About Our Organization

Cub Scout Pack 42 is located in Quincy, Massachusetts. We are one of the most active Packs in Quincy. We have earned the Quality Unit designation from the Spirit of Adventure Council of the Boy Scouts of America for the past nine years and are currently a Gold Journey to Excellence Unit. Pack 42 is made up of over 50 youth and adult volunteers.

Cub Scout Pack 42 runs a year-round quality program, September to September, full of activities for Cub Scouts and their families to enjoy and help build character, develop physical, mental, and moral fitness, and become participating citizens in our community.

Our program is open boys and girls in grades K-5 and their families.

Come to a Den or Pack meeting and see what we are all about!

More Information

We meet as a Pack (all Scouts) once a month; dens (broken out by age) meet 1-4 times per month, depending on their age. Due to COVID-19, Pack meetings are currently being held virtually through Zoom. Den meetings are a combination of in-person and virtual.

Parents of Lions (K) and Tigers (1st) must stay with their child at all times and at all meetings/events.

We aim to offer a community service project, hike and activity once per month, open to the entire Pack.

We provide 2-deep leadership - there will always be two trained leaders present with the children. If girls are present, one of those leaders must be a female. This also applies to virtual meetings.

During Scouting activities, Scouts should be in proper Class A or Class B uniforms. Leaders will specify which uniform is appropriate for the event.

When in uniform, Scouts are representing the Pack and the Scouting program and should try their best to uphold the Oath and Law. This means respecting property, listening and following all leader/parent directions.

Leaders are similarly held to these high standards.

COVID Precautions

Pack 42 follows all safety guidance regarding coronavirus issued from the Spirit of Adventure Council. The Council takes a conservative view, based on guidance from the BSA and state and local health authorities. More about their tiered reopening system can be found here: https://www.scoutspirit.org/reopening/

In the current phase - Gear 4 - small, non-family groups may meet with social distancing. Requirements include:

  • Dens can meet in person in groups of no more than 12 (2 must be trained leaders)
  • Face coverings must be worn
  • Frequent hand washing and sanitizing should be utilized
  • 6-foot distancing should be used as much as possible
  • Outside meetings are encouraged
  • Scouts feeling ill or exhibiting any COVID symptoms should not attend in-person events

Guidelines are constantly changing. Pack leadership will inform you of changes to these policies.
